A few beginning students over the years expressed
concern about the role of religion in martial arts. Sometimes they wanted to ensure that our classes did not conflict with
their own religious beliefs. Other times, they wanted to confirm that we were not a martial arts cult.
United Martial Arts Academy does not endorse a religion nor does it practice
any weird religious rituals. One of the few Eastern traditions that we observe, bowing, is intended to show respect, nothing
more.
All students should feel comfortable training
at our academy regardless of their beliefs. Students should learn self-defense and get in shape without being burdened by
religious proselytizing.
