FOR RELEASE: IMMEDIATE (Submitted 1/5/06)

Three members from United Martial Arts Academy on North Main Street in London performed well at the Warrior Fighting Challenge (WFC) “Night of Champions” held at the National Guard Armory in London.

In his first ever mixed martial arts bout, Jacob Mosely submitted Gary Blackburn by rear naked choke in 0:14 of the first round. Isaiah Armantrout, also performing in his first MMA competition, was defeated by Andrew Earles by unanimous decision. Welterweight Champion Scott Hope defeated Jim Colyer with a shoulder lock in 0:46 of the first round.

“Scott and I are proud of Jacob and Isaiah,” said UMA owner Jeremy Patton. Jacob dominated his fight and he looked like he’d been fighting for years. Isaiah lost a decision to an opponent who’s fought more than thirty times. Isaiah looked nervous during the first two rounds, but he found his groove, came back strong and I think he took the third round. He did well against a much more experienced opponent.”

“Scott Hope’s victory wasn’t a big surprise because he dominates every fight we’ve seen him in,” Patton continued. “He landed a kick to Colyer’s face early in the match, which I think surprised a lot of people. You don’t see a lot of high kicks in the WFC because it’s an amateur event and frankly, you have to be a very good kicker to get away with it.”

“I have a lot of respect for Jim Colyer because he showed great courage getting in the ring with Scott,” Patton added.

The WFC is a full-contact mixed martial arts competition. Fighters can win by knockout, submission, doctor’s stoppage or decision at the end of 3 rounds. The WFC follows the same rules as the Ultimate Fighting Championship, which can be seen on pay-per-view and television.
