Two words accurately describe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: ground grappling.
Using superior position and leverage, a smaller BJJ student can often restrain or submit a larger opponent using pins, joint
locks and choke holds. BJJ is one of the most effective martial arts in the world and has become the foundation of training
programs for mixed martial arts fighters, military and law enforcement.
A typical BJJ class consists of warm-ups,
stretching, drills, lots of techniques and grappling.
Safety is always important. Throws and submissions
are to be performed in a controlled manner. Advanced students are expected to help teach beginners, not compete with them.
